Just hours after President Emmanuel Macron left Nairobi, France finalized two deals with Kenya worth Ksh227 million focused on critical water and clean energy initiatives.
The first agreement allocates Ksh121 million to raise the height of Masinga Dam. This will increase water storage and make supply more reliable for communities living downstream along the Tana River.
The second deal directs Ksh106 million toward strengthening water service providers in Kisumu and Eldoret. Both cities have struggled with inconsistent access to clean water, and the funding is meant to improve reliability.
The pacts were signed by Treasury CS John Mbadi. Separately, Health CS Aden Duale met with the French delegation to discuss financing for universal health coverage.
