Kenyan content creator Sheryl Gabriella has reportedly taken Standard Group PLC to court over a newspaper report concerning an alleged leaked private video.

Gabriella, whose official name is Sheryl Cherono, has previously spoken about the circulation of intimate content, saying it was shared without her consent.

Her legal action has now brought fresh attention to questions surrounding privacy, digital consent and media responsibility, particularly when reporting on sensitive incidents that have already gone viral online.

The case could further fuel debate over where the line should be drawn between legitimate public interest reporting and the protection of an individual's privacy.

The allegations remain subject to the court process, and the outcome will determine whether Standard Group bears any legal responsibility over the publication in question.
