Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has officially broken ranks with UDA and unveiled the Peoples Party of Kenya (PPK) as his new political vehicle ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

For months Nyoro had operated as a "lone ranger", avoiding public alliances with either President William Ruto or the Rigathi Gachagua-led opposition.

On June 27, 2026, Nyoro requested Kenyans to give him "three to four weeks" to declare his political direction, saying his silence was "for Kenyans, not for my political convenience".

with the launch of PPK now answering the speculations. The party plans to field candidates nationwide, positioning itself to negotiate with whoever emerges victorious in the 2027 presidential race.

Nyoro’s relationship with the government has been strained since he declined to support the impeachment of Gachagua in October 2024. He later explained he stayed away from the vote to deny the required two-thirds threshold.

The Kiharu MP has been named as one of Mt Kenya’s most watched politicians.

He has also built a profile through projects like the programme that capped secondary school fees at KSh 500 for 12,000 learners in Kiharu.

Nyoro’s entry into PPK adds another player to the already crowded 2027 field. The party is positioning itself as a "third force" focused on generational change.
